I posted two chapters recently, as I'm sure any readers of the blog have seen.
First, I posted Part Twenty Two of The Properties of a Rose, and it has only two reviews. And I've gotten a lot less reviews from my usual reviewers than I normally do, even though I'm updating more regularly/frequently lately.
Then I posted Chapter Seven of Closer to Heaven Above, and I've not gotten a single review for it. I just don't understand. I don't understand not having at least a few reviews. I know that Percy/anyone isn't exactly a big pairing in fanficiton, but I would like to know how I'm doing from those who do enjoy Percy/Audrey.
It's frustrating because I have no idea how I'm doing if no one tells me. Besides, it really dampens my spirits. Luckily I'm a little bit ahead in both stories (at least a chapter ahead in writing each), but I don't feel motivated to edit those chapters with the little responses I'm getting. :( I just want to know what people think, that's all. :/
Do you think maybe I posted at a bad time? Is there an effective time to post? A time that that maybe helps us get more reviews?
Ugh.
Yours & Frustrated,
Kate/RP

Reviews
Okay, so I'd like to complain for a bit here. Anyone who feels like they should jump in may do so.
How is it that I can write a chapter and get 100+ reads but not one review? I'm not the type of HPFF writer that complains about quick reviews, either. I love my long, detailed responses that come from my regular reviewers, but I am very pleased with a simple "good job" or "i like ___ but work on ___." I don't even hate constructive reviews, though I'm not too fond of flames.
I wish I could make all readers take mandatory courses that explain why writers like readers' comments. Since I can't, I'll tell you here.
WE LIKE TO KNOW WHAT OUR AUDIENCE THINKS. IT HELPS US BECOME BETTER WRITERS.
All in all, I write fanfiction for two reasons: 1) to work on my writing skills and 2) to play around in the world of HP. I don't know how I'm doing with either if readers don't respond.
Thanks for reading the rant,
Kate/RP

A Major Milestone
As many of you may know, I am writing a Next-Gen Rose/Scorpius fiction called The Properties of a Rose. I had been offline for about a week after having posted Part Thirteen. When the internet was returned to me (from the evil viruses of the world), I had two pages worth of reviews. Naturally, that made my day! Then I realized that we've passed 100 reviews, making it to 120 reviews! That's the most reviews I've ever gotten on one story!
Thank you all so much!
